Counselling Enterprise

Is your past affecting your future?

"Empowers you to write your own ending and is one of the bravest thing you can ever do"

Empowers you to write your own ending

and is one of the bravest things you can ever do

“creating a better version of self requires a leadership mindset”

My journey from the world of a student counsellor to a professional counsellor has always left me with a lost sense of identity.  Today as I train and guide other student counsellors on their journey, I can understand why.  Training to be a counsellor is a challenge, but without cultural awareness or an understanding of marginalised groups, the journey can become a double jeopardy.

This realisation was the start of Counselling Enterprise, I wanted to provide a platform to support women to navigate their growth from a holistic perspective. One that considers the challenges we face as well as recognising how these might be creating personal limitations. Without adequate support in this way, your journey of change would only echo the establishments’ educational awareness.

If your voice is only an echo, then you are merely a follower. My programmes are designed for counsellors and trainees to develop a leadership mindset. This involves unlearning culturally limiting cycles to create an identity that is based on truth rather than an echo of the educational system you find yourself in.

Since starting Counselling enterprise, I have been received a flood of emails from students and qualified professionals, voicing appreciation for an alternative approach. This tells me that my work is needed and plays a vital role in bridging the gap between personal development and cultural.

I hope that training providers and anyone who is interested in increasing awareness in this regard, will emerge in the learning process too.

Our mission:

To ensure mental health training programmes, foster awareness that promotes autonomy and culturally informed leadership models.

Well you will never have to worry about that again

“Hi My name is Karen James and I help students achieve their greatness not only through qualifications, but through developing a leadership mindset. “

If you are currently training to become a professional counsellor, have you ever asked yourself one of the following?

Will I ever feel worthy in my negative experiences?

Will I be able to write a successful assignment?

Will I ever develop the skills to overcome my limiting cycles?

How can I become authentic if I don’t feel heard around racism?

How do I overcome my fear of failing such a demanding course?

You are not alone! Over the past 10 years I have used my experience as a professional counsellor to teach, support and help individuals to show up in their life to experience their wildest dreams.  I provide training and resources so students can spend less time worrying and more time focused on achieve their goal of becoming a professional counsellor.

It doesn’t end there. Embedded in the curriculum rich resources are developmental training tools to support students who feel they have been limited by painful experiences such as racism and gender inequality. Having faced the same challenges, I know that rising from feeling inadequate to feeling worthy needs to be bigger than change, it requiresthe deeper level of transformation. I share decades of my experience to teach students how to do this: to excel as leaders so they become an inspiration to self and others!
The best way to ensure you receive value would be to sign up for my email list. I send regular resources to support your qualification progress

JUGGLING A CULTURAL DILEMMA

My journey from the world of a student counsellor to a professional counsellor has always left me with a lost sense of identity.  Today as I train and guide other student counsellors on their journey, I see the same struggles.  It’s almost as if my perspective as a teacher has enabled me to see that actually, a dichotomy exists. I believe that training to be a counsellor should be a transformational experience, it is about understanding your story to take ownership. The truth is, without cultural awareness or an understanding of marginalised groups, the journey can become one of emotional stagnation.  For many black trainee counsellors this presents the challenge of navigating a double jeopardy.

Counselling Enterprise is born

This realisation was the start of Counselling Enterprise, I wanted to provide a platform to support women to navigate their growth from a holistic perspective. One that considers personal challenges as well as recognising cycles that undermine and devalue. Without adequate support in this way, any attempts to change would only be a mere echo of the establishments’ limitations. My experience has taught me, where limitations persist then unworthiness exists.

A LEADERSHIP MIND IS CONGRUENT

My programmes were designed for black counsellors and trainees to overcome the limitations of cultural and colour blindness.I have found that teaching students to unlearn culturally limiting cycles to create a new identity,is a powerful journey of truthful discovery. Rather thanechoing the educational systemthey find themselves in, students start to confidently pave their journey in a way that is congruent with who they really are. This is what I call the start of a leadership mindset: creating autonomy to step into your greatness.
